Prairie Mallows - Brillant
Prairie Mallows - Brillant
Sidalcea ‘Brillant’
The Prairie Mallows Brillant, ‘Sidalcea oregana’, commonly called Prairie Mallow, resembles mini hollyhocks. These 2 to 4 foot-tall bright red perennials bear showy spikes of 2-inch-wide blooms. Great cottage-garden plant that has the look of mini Hollyhocks, but not the dominating height or aggressive self-seeding. Long blooming seasons makes this a favorite in a mixed perennial border. Slender and upright, the prairie mallow is not extravagantly showy, but it’s pretty enough in sunny beds. It has generous blooms, flowering for weeks in midsummer; naturalizes easily. It has average water needs but don’t overwater. They require partial shade. You’ll love the long-flowering plants in your summer garden. This is an old-fashioned flower that everyone loves.
